Battle of Oriskany — The Bloodiest Engagement of the Revolution
Oriskany was the bloodiest battle of the Revolution per capita — nearly half the American force was killed or wounded. It was also one of the most consequential, because the combination of Oriskany and Fort Stanwix's resistance stopped the British from capturing the Mohawk Valley and completing their plan to split the colonies.
